minimal footprint. maximum comfort.

Our hotel and conference center was designed and built with a unique blend of environmental responsibility and stylish comfort. The hotel earned its LEED designation by focusing on four key areas during construction:

  • Use of environment-friendly building materials: Wood is certified as coming from a renewable source; wood stains are water-based and do not release hazardous vapors; paints and wallpaper glue are eco-friendly, as well..
  • Recycling: Recycled materials were used in construction; energy recovery units were installed.
  • Water conservation: Bathrooms offer guests an option for using either low or high water volumes; guests are encouraged to reuse bath towels and bed linens rather than receive new sets every day.
  • Smoke-free environment: Like all Marriott hotels in the U.S. and Canada, the Inn & Conference Center is smoke-free.

Other considerations made during our construction include:

  • Enhanced energy efficiency - 37% more efficient than comparable buildings.
  • Plants and grasses that require less water and energy usage to maintain landscaping.
  • 65% of construction materials were recycled.
  • Use of natural lighting was maximized.
  • All durable goods are liquidated via a university re-seller (Terrapin Traders) and re-sold to the general public
  • Air composition monitor in each guest room ensuring fresh air is circulated.

In our current operations we continue to excel in our GREEN efforts. Below are some of the changes we’ve made in our daily operations to lessen our impact:

  • We currently process and recycle plastic, glass, metal, and paper products
  • We’ve reached 100% compliance for paper and cardboard recycling in our executive office and kitchen
  • We’ve added public area and guest room recycling units and will provide meeting room recycling units upon request
  • A total hotel food waste composting program launched in February of 2008
  • All durable goods are liquidated via a university re-seller (Terrapin Traders) and re-sold to the general public
  • Eliminate all polystyrene and plastic items in our Mt. Clare Café
